Gertrude McCarthy, 93, a resident of Vintage Knolls Assisted Living Center, Danville, passed away Tuesday at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born in Heckscherville, Nov. 24, 1919, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Margaret Canfield O'Connor.
Gertrude had lived in Mount Carmel until October 2001 when she moved to Danville.
Gertrude graduated from Cass Township High School in 1935, and was a member of Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
She was married to Francis P. McCarthy who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1993.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Francis "Joe" McCarthy; two daughters, Margaret Mary "Nana" Foulk and Mary Virginia "Gina" Koveleskie; three brothers; and four sisters.
Surviving are a son, Michael and his wife, Colleen McCarthy, Mechanicsburg; two daughters, Eleanor and her husband, Richard Gillin, Doylestown, and Ursula and her husband, Robert Ross, Alexandria, Va.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Francis Karwacki as the celebrant. Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. A viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of mass at Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J.
