James Bartlin Malick, 77, of 163 Valley St., New Philadelphia, passed away Sunday at his home.
Born in Kulpmont, Dec. 23, 1934, he was a son of the late Raymond Franklin Malick and Ruth Stewart Malick.
James worked until his retirement as a maintenance man for A&E Plastics, Ringtown.
He married Esther Ohl-Nester Malick on Feb. 14, 1988, in Christ Church, Schuylkill Haven.
He attended Kulpmont schools and was of the Protestant faith.
James was an avid woodworker and gardener and enjoyed taking care of his beautiful roses. He also was an avid NASCAR fan.
She was preceded in death by a grandson; two sisters, Carol Guise and Ruth Stanitis; and two brothers, Howard and Raymond Malick.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, James Malick, Mahanoy City; three daughters, Barbara Malick, Mount Carmel, Lorraine Aurand, Ashland, and Mary Lou Bowers, Shamokin; five grandchildren; five stepchildren, Kevin and George Nester, Bonnie Waltman, Teresa Marshall and Betty See; 12 stepgrandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; a brother, John Malick, Waynesboro; two sisters, Dorothy Stanitis, Gordon, and Esther Balok, Florida; and nieces and nephews
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, with the Rev. Joan A. Brown officiating. Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Mount Carmel. A viewing will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service in the funeral home. Guest book can be signed at www.stutzfuneralhome.com
