John M. "Jack" Sorokach

John M. "Jack" Sorokach, 70, of Minersville, passed away Tuesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.

Born in Pottsville, Oct. 16, 1943, he was a son of the late John E. and Goldie Rindock Sorokach.

He was the husband of Jeanette Cantwell Sorokach, with whom he would have celebrated 45 years of marriage on Aug. 23.

He was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville.

A 1961 graduate of Minersville High School, he served in the Army during the Vietnam War.

Jack was a pipefitter with Pipefitters Union 524.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a sister, Goldie Maurer, Vestal, N.Y.; brothers, Robert Sorokach, Pine Grove, and Thomas Sorokach, Minersville; nieces and nephews.

A Requiem Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Minersville, with the Rev. Mark Fesniak officiating. Friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville. Interment will be held in St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances made to St. Nicholas Memorial Fund. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
