Michael F. Petock

Michael F. Petock, 70, of Devon, died March 31 at home.

Born in Pottsville, April 6, 1943, he was a son of the late Michael and Mary Petock.

He was raised in Buck Run and graduated from Cass Township High School, Class of 1961.

After school, Michael enlisted in the Navy. He served in Vietnam, working in the area of top secret intelligence.

He attended Penn State University, where he earned an electrical engineering degree with high distinction and graduated in 1968 with numerous awards and honors.

He earned his law degree in 1971 from George Washington National Law Center, graduating with honors and as a member of the Order of the Coif.

Michael entered private practice as a patent attorney in 1972 and enjoyed a long, distinguished legal career working as a patent attorney. Michael served on the Pennsylvania Bar Association Board of Governors and serv-ed as chairman of the Young Lawyers Section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association.

He co-founded the intellectual property section of the Pennsylvania Bar Association. He also co-founded the Bridge the Gap course which is now a required course for all newly admitted attorneys in Pennsylvania. For the past 10 years, he practiced law with his son in the intellectual property firm of Petock & Petock, Valley Forge.

Michael enjoyed the water, spending most of his weekends and vacations by the ocean at his home in Sea Isle City. Most of all, he enjoyed his family.

He is survived by his wife, Janice; a daughter, Michelle, wife of Ian Werner, London, England; two sons, Michael, husband of Audrey, Phoenixville, and Douglas, Devon; two grandsons, Keehan Petock and Henry Werner; a sister, Irene, wife of Joseph Kamarousky, Frackville; a brother, John Petock, husband of Bernice, Pottsville; a sister-in-law, Margaret, wife of George Greig, Miami Beach, Fla.; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral was held April 4 from Alleva Funeral Home, Paoli.
