Samuel Rodger Watts, 54, of Florida City, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Sept. 8.
Born in Iowa City, Iowa, Feb. 21, 1959, he was a son of Russell D. and Rosemary M. Watts, Key West.
Sam was a 1977 graduate of Glenbard East High School, Lombard, Ill. He graduated from the University of Illinois
at Urbana-Champaign in 1982, earning dual degrees in agricultural engineering and agricultural science.
Sam was a member of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers and was awarded a 25-year membership plaque at its 2012 annual conference.
Sam was employed as chief agricultural engineer at B&K Installations, Home stead, Fla., for 30 years, engineering projects for zoos, schools and industry. His work helped create greenhouses, botanical gardens, aquaculture structures, water management operations and educational facilities located around the world.
Surviving, in addition to Sam's parents, are a sister, Robin E. Larsen, Omaha, Neb.; brothers, Joseph A. Watts, Florida City, and Russell N. Watts (Ellen), Zion, Ill.; a companion, Olwyn B. Beatty, Minersville; nieces and nephews; his furry buddy, Bandita; many dear friends and clients.
