Wendy Lee Nabholz, 46, of Pottsville, passed away Wednesday morning at home.
Born in Pottsville, she was a daughter of James and Lois Ann Kardisco Maley, Minersville.
She was a 1984 graduate of Minersville Area High School, and later graduated from Penn State with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. While at Penn State, Wendy was a majorette with "A Touch of Blue" squad of the Penn State Blue Band.
She began her teaching career at the Minersville Elementary Center. She suspended her teaching career while raising her family, then took a position as an elementary teacher in the Pottsville Area School District. Wendy was also a dance and baton instructor. During the course of her artistic career, she achieved more than a thousand awards.
Her greatest joy, however, was passing what she knew to others. Whether academically or artistically, Wendy delighted in the success and accomplishments of her students. She truly inspired many young people during her career.
Wendy was always extremely grateful to her family, friends, and community for all of the support she received while undergoing therapy. After hundreds of treatments, Wendy became unable to respond personally to all the individuals for which she was so thankful. She truly loved each and every one of you.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Christopher Nabholz, to whom she had been married for more than 18 years; three children, Hannah, Noah and Emma Nabholz, all at home; a sister, Heather Greenhalgh (Kirk), Pottsville; a brother, Bret Maley (Kathryn), Cressona; her maternal grandmother, Mildred Kardisco, Minersville; her mother-in-law, Margaret Nabholz, Pottsville; four nephews; four nieces.
Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Trinity Episcopal Church, Centre Street and Howard Avenue, Pottsville. A public vigil service will be at 8 p.m. today. Further services and interment will be private. Donations to benefit Wendy's children can be made to Wendy Nabholz Benefit Fund, c/o the Union Bank, or to "For Love of Wendy", c/o the Hidden River Credit Union. Donations will also be accepted at the church. Dutcavich Funeral Home, Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
