Edna (DeSonne) Maleski

Edna DeSonne Maleski, 81, of Weatherly, died Tuesday at Hazleton General Hospital, Hazleton.

Born in Jersey City, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Edward and Emma Bovery DeSonne.

She was a widow of Alexander E. Maleski, who passed away Feb. 16, 1999.

She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church and the Citizens Fire Company Aux., of Weatherly.

Edna had worked for Weatherwood Carbon County Home and the former CandleLite Inn in Weatherly as a cook and bartender.

She was preceded in death by her brother, John DeSonne; and sisters, Emma Keef and Marie Daly.

She is survived by a daughter, Lisa Maleski Fox, wife of Chris, Freeland; three sons, Robert Maleski, Weatherly, Michael Maleski and his wife, Donna, Nescopeck, and the Rev. Edward Maleski and his wife, Beth, Brandonville; 12 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Arrangements are being handled by Philip J. Jeffries Funeral Home, 211 First St., Weatherly. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday from the funeral home. Friends shall be received from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorials in her name can be sent to Citizens Fire Company No. 1, 136 Spring St., Weatherly, PA 18255.
