Gary Sallada Obituary
He was born on Sunday, Aug. 22, 1943, in Valley View, a son of the late Joseph Sallada and the late Mabel Klinger Sallada.
He was a 1961 graduate of Tri-Valley High School.
Gary served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was employed at the former Penn Reel, Hegins, for 21 years and then was employed at Cardinal Systems, Schuylkill Haven, until becoming ill.
He was a member of Gratz VFW Post 2385.
Gary was a musician, an avid bowler, enjoyed model trains, camping, biking, hiking and riding motorcycles. He was an excellent fabricator, and known as a jack of all trades.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Fayne Sallada Sr. and Leroy Sallada; two sisters, Arlene Erdman and Renee Daniels.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley M. Shoffler Sallada, to whom he was married for 55 years. He is also survived by two sons, Gary J. Sallada Jr. and his wife Theresa, Minersville, and Jeffrey A. Sallada and his wife, Danielle, Pottsville; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View. There will be no viewing or visitation prior to the service. Burial with military honors will be made in Zion Lutheran "Klinger's" Cemetery, Erdman. Memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Post 575, P.O. Box 754, Valley View, PA 17983.
