William Lubold Obituary

William R. Lubold, 78, of Valley View, and formerly of Highsprings and Fort White, Fla., died Monday at Tremont Nursing Health & Rehabilitation Center after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

He was born in Valley View, Jan. 10, 1940, to the late James and Bessie Schwalm Lubold.

He attended the Tri-Valley Bible Church, Valley View, and the Calvary Baptist Church, Alachua, Fla.

He was a graduate of the Tri-Valley High School, Class of 1957.

He was a manager of the former Felty's Phillip 66 Service station, and a former assistant chief of police in Hegins Township. He moved to Florida in 1981 and started his own construction business called Star Quality Builders, which he operated until retiring. He lived in Florida until becoming ill and moving back to Pennsylvania in 2013.

He was a past president of the former Valley View Rotary club and was a 32nd degree Mason with the F&AM Valley Lodge 797, Valley View.

He enjoyed fishing with many family members in Cedar Key, Fla. He enjoyed hunting in Sullivan County with family and friends and enjoyed riding his Harley and going on road trips with his friends in Pennsylvania and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his wife, of 38 years in 1994, Ruth Ann Tiersworth Lubold, and three sisters, Marie Lubold, Helen Smeltz and Eva Klinger.

He is survived by his children, Melody (Gerald) Mattern, Valley View, Cole (Connie) Lubold, Elizabethville, Kerry (Lori) Lubold, Fort White, Fla., and Karen (James) Edwards, Valdosta, Ga.; grandchildren, Amy, Tabatha, Christopher, Ashley, Cole, Elexa, Natalee, Danika, Quin and Ethan; stepgrandchildren, Kevin, Brandon, Chad, Jacob and Jonathan; 11 great-grandchildren; brothers, Harvey (Hilda) Lubold and Melvin (Loretta) Lubold; sister, Lucille Ludwig; many nieces, nephews and friends in Pennsylvania and Florida.

A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Valley View, with the funeral service following at 2 p.m. The Masonic Lodge will conduct their service immediately following the viewing. Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, P.O. Box 123, 200 W.
