Angeline Carestia, 102, passed away Sunday at the Brooke Grove Nursing and Rehab Center, Sandy Spring, Md.

Angeline was born in Palo Alto, Sept. 27, 1915, to Nicholas and Maria Sacco Mete. She remained in Palo Alto to work and raise her family until 2011 when she relocated to Olney, Md. She lived each day of her 102 years with gusto and her love of baseball, puzzles and beloved Sunday family dinners are but a few of the memories her loved ones will cherish. She was employed by Costas Candy Co. for over 20 years.

In addition to her parents, Angeline was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Anthony Carestia; brothers, Leo, Joseph and Pasquale Mete; sister, Theresa Cuccia.

She is survived by her loving family including children, Ralph Carestia and wife, Shirley, Rockville, Md., Mary Stiles and husband, William, Olney, Md., and John Carestia and wife, Teresa, Schuylkill Haven; grandchildren, Debbie Thompson, Sandy Mercer, Karen Crocker, William Stiles Jr., Angela Tranquill, Jeff Stiles, Anthony Carestia, Mark Stiles, Megan Mabry, John Carestia Jr. and Roman Carestia, as well as 29 great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Stephen Roman Catholic Church, Port Carbon, with the Rev. Edward B. Connolly officiating. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Robert A Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon.
