Anna G. Schaeffer

Anna G. Schaeffer, 97, formerly of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Saturday in Waterbridge at Pine Grove.

Born in Pine Grove Township, May 20, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Charles C. and Emma J. Herring Sherman.

Anna was a lifetime and oldest member of Hetzel's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, where she had been a former Sunday School teacher, member of the choir for over 50 years, the Lutheran Church Women and the Ladies Aid.

She had been a seamstress at the former Pine Valley Manufacturing in Pine Grove.

Preceding her in death was her husband of 59 years, Anson W. Schaeffer, on Nov. 16, 1998; eight sisters, Amy Ferrebee, Verna Miller, Ivy Miller, Helen Zimmerman, Esther Sherman, Mary Schwartz, Lillie Schwartz and Frances Faust; and a brother, Charles Sherman.

Surviving are three daughters, Lola, wife of Roy Bettinger, Tremont, Jane Lengle, Auburn, and Patsy, wife of Donald Fidler, Schuylkill Haven; four grandsons, Todd Bettinger, Darin Bettinger, Michael Lengle, and Eric Lengle; two granddaughters, Amy Saracino and Beth Coolbaugh; four great-grandsons, Jordan Bettinger, Jackson Bettinger, Ethan Lengle, and James King; and two great-granddaughters, Payton Lengle and Lisa King.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hetzel's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, with the Rev. David Zeravsky officiating. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hetzel's Church. Interment will follow in the Hetzel's Cemetery, Pine Grove. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to the Hetzel's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 233 Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963. The H. L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
