Anthony P. "Grig" Gregas, Girardville, died unexpectedly Thursday, shortly after arrival at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street.
Born in Ashland, he was a son of the late Anna Stanton Gregas.
He was a member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Catholic Church and the Sons of Italy Club, both of Girardville.
He volunteered his time for several years assisting and coaching in the following organizations: Girardville Basketball Association, Girardville Little League, Immaculate Heart CYO Basketball and Ebenezer Little League.
He will be remembered as the keyboard player for the Tucker Young band.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Willing.
Grig is survived by his wife of 18 years, the former Patty Dando Gregas; his sons, Jason Gregas, Bloomsburg, Jordan Gregas, Lebanon, and Darin Gregas, at home; his daughters, Carly, Leanna and Dana, all at home; a brother, Peter "Butch" Gregas, Kissimmee Fla.; his sisters, Floanne Pantosi, California, and Sherri Yawornicky, Girardville; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday from Thomas M. Sullivan Funeral Home, Girardville, with the Rev. Edward B. Connolly officiating. Friends may call the funeral home at 6 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the Gregas family suggests contributions in Anthony's memory to the Girardville Basketball Association, Girardville Borough Hall, Fourth and B streets, Girardville, PA 17935.
