Bertram Krammes Obituary

Bertram G. Krammes, 82, of Pine Grove, died Friday at Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street, Pottsville.

Born Sept. 23, 1926, in Washington Township, he was a son of the late Amos and Bertha Wert Krammes.

Bert was a member of Hetzel's United Church of Christ, Pine Grove. He had been employed as a coal miner and later as a Quaker Alloy in the ore mines.

During World War II, Krammes served with the 332nd Quartermaster Truck Company in the Army. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Ribbon. Bert was a life member of both the Pine Grove VFW Post 3432 and the Pine Grove American Legion Post 342.

He loved hunting and had been a life member of the Rock Fish & Game Association and a life member of the Summit Station Fire Company.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Elmer Krammes, Jackie Krammes and Richard Krammes.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Grace V. Berger Krammes; a daughter, Lois E. Krammes; two sisters, Lucy, wife of Neal Borkey, and Barbara, wife of John Bertolet, all of Bernville.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with the Rev. George Miller officiating. There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m. until time of service Monday at the funeral home. Internment will be in Hetzel's Cemetery, Hetzel's Church Road, Pine Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be given to the Hetzel's UCC Memorial Fund, c/o Mae Hummel, 3264 Sweet Arrow Lake Road, Pine Grove, PA 17963, in his memory.
