Charles Reed Obituary

Charles J. "Charlie" Reed, 80, of Pine Grove, passed away Saturday at home.

Born in Pine Grove, Feb. 3, 1931, he was a son of the late Elmer F. and Cora E. Marks Reed.

He was a graduate of Pine Grove High School.

Charlie was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served with the 121st Transportation Truck Co. as a corporal, activated through the Pennsylvania National Guard. He received the Korean Service Medal with three Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He attended group meetings of the 121st Trucking outfit from Korea and was a member of Pine Grove VFW Post 3432.

Charlie worked as a crane operator for Alcoa Aluminum in Cressona and Lebanon.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove

He was a member of Brookside Gun Club and loved fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening.

Preceding him in death were a brother, Warren Reed and three sisters, Arlene Griffiths, Helen Keely and Grace Koehn.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Virginia Lash Reed; a son, Gary, husband of Michele Reed, Pine Grove; a daughter, Audrey Anspach, Deerfield Beach, Fla.; two grandsons, Christopher Reed and Nicholas Reed; a brother, Carl W. "Doc" Reed, Pine Grove.

Services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard Schoenleber officiating. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. There will be a viewing from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The family would prefer, in lieu of flowers, donations be given to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963, in his memory.
