Dennis A. Yoder, 58, of Hamburg, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family at 9 p.m. Wednesday.

He was the husband of Sallie A. Reppert Yoder. They were married on June 28, 1969, and celebrated 40 years of marriage.

Born in West Reading, he was the son of Maude C. Heckman Yoder, Hamburg, and the late Guy W. Yoder Jr. He was a 1969 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School.

Dennis owned and operated Dennis A. Yoder Custom Leather, Hamburg, since 1992.

He was a well-known leather craftsman throughout the country. He has acquired and leaves behind many friends.

He was also a member of the Ponderosa Hunting Club, Port Clinton.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a son, Eric A., husband of Michelle L. Correll Yoder, Port Clinton; a grandson, Toby A. Yoder; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, William A. and Anna A. Reppert Neifert, West Brunswick Township.

Dennis, was one of the iconic characters in the Pa. SASS realm. He was the go to guy for advice and quality leather goods. But Dennis was more than a knowledgeable merchant. His booth was a place to stop and enjoy an interesting conversation. Dennis was always ready with a smile and witty repartee. I miss him and every Topton Match.

God Bless, Rest in Peace.

I was sorry to hear of Dennis passing. I worked with him many years ago at American Argo. We always had a lot of laughs together. He worked there longer than I did and would never hesitate to help me with a machine or answer questions. May God bless his entire family and help them through this difficult time.

In true cowboy fashion, Dennis made us feel at home from the first time we visited him. He always finished his leatherwork far in advance of the promised date... and his work was superb. We will always be proud to wear the leathers with his maker's mark. Dennis, we will truly miss you. Sallie and Maude, our hearts go out to you. Morgan James and Copper Starr

Sallie, I'm sure that nothing I, nor anyone else, can say will lift the sadness you feel. Please remember however, that time and the good Lord will soften the pain and reinforce the happy memories. Dennis was a great person, a wonderful friend and and outstanding craftsman. He has left his mark both on our sport and on the hearts of his loved ones, friends and many cowboy acquaintences. Someone who is so fondly remembered is never really gone, he's only waiting for us to catch up.

Dennis and Sallie have been very good friends of myself and my husband Jody. Dennis was special--always there for his friends. I remember my very first cowboy shoot he and Sallie were the first "Cowboys" I met and he helped me with a borrowed holster that was too large, so that I could shoot. Dennis was always there for a hug and a laugh, always there for everyone around him. His presence is one that cannot be replaced in the cowboy world, and we will remember and love him forever. Sallie, we love you and are always here for you!
