George Petrylak, age 40 of 17 Elliot St., Shenandoah, passed away Friday morning.

Born in Ashland on June 4, 1972, he was a son of the late George and Mary (Becker) Petrylak.

George was a graduate of Shenandoah Valley High School.

He worked as a laborer in contracting and home repair.

George was a faithful member of the William Penn United Methodist Church and a 20-year member of the William Penn Fire Company of which he was very proud.

He was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also liked watching and rooting for his favorite professional sports teams, the Oakland Raiders, the Philadelphia Eagles and the Philadelphia Phillies.

Above all, George was devoted to his family. Surviving are two brothers, John Petrylak and his wife, Gina, of Shenandoah, and Chris Petrylak and his wife, Patti, of Lost Creek; two sisters, Kathleen Kowker and her companion, Vernon Rettzo, of Shenandoah, and Mary Cecchini and her husband, Tom, of Ringtown; aunts, uncles, a great-uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were a close family acquaintance of his late mother, Roy Cooper; and his faithful dog, Sheba.

Prayer and scripture services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, 132 S. Jardin St., Shenandoah. Pastor Peggy Reed of the William Penn United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may callfrom 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Walukiewicz-Oravitz Fell Funeral Home, Shenandoah, is in charge of the arrangements.
