James R. Edmondson Sr., 68, of Girardville, passed away peacefully Saturday night at home with his wife, Joanne, at his side.

Born in Shenandoah, he was a son of the late Robert J. and Helen Ross Edmondson.

He was a 1967 graduate of North Schuylkill High School and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

He had been employed as an exterminator for J.C. Ehrlich, Pottsville, for 38 years, until his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony J., in 2016; his sister-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Edmondson.

James is survived by his wife of 31 years, Joanne Sherry Edmondson, Girardville; his son, James R. Edmondson Jr. and his fiancee, Melissa Foster, Hazleton; his brother, Robert Edmondson, Pine Grove; his granddaughter, Kayla Edmondson, Lavelle; nephews.
