M. Lorraine Toomey, 90, of Cumbola, passed away Saturday with her family by her side.

Born in Pottsville, March 26, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Anna Riegel Lowthert.

She was a graduate of Pottsville High School, Class of 1942, and a long-time member of Cumbola United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, Lorraine was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Lowthert, and her husband of 41 years, William J. Toomey Sr.

Lorraine leaves behind a son, William J. Toomey Jr. and his wife, Sally, Pine Grove; two daughters, Jacqueline A. Drum and her husband, Fred, New Philadelphia, and Michele Lorence and her husband, David, Cumbola. She was blessed with four grandchildren, Kyrston Strauch and her husband, Charles, Michael Lorence and his wife, Paula, John Lorence and his wife, Jennifer, and Mary Lorence and her fiance, Fred. Lorraine adored her three great-grandchildren, Cameron Strauch, Emily Lorence and Ryan Lorence. Beatrice Klitsch and Thelma Salle, sisters to Lorraine and both of Pottsville, along with nieces and nephews, remain behind.

Pastor Ashley Brown will officiate a religious service at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. A viewing for relatives and friends will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. A private interment will occur at the convenience of the family.
