Martha G. Jones, 98, of Saint Clair, died Wednesday at ManorCare.

Born in Saint Clair, Dec. 22, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Grace Crawshaw Gray.

She was a 1932 graduate of Saint Clair High School and attended West Chester University.

She was a teacher at Schuylkill Intermediate Unit 29, Mar Lin.

Martha was a member of Saint Clair Wade United Methodist Church, where she was the superintendent of Sunday school for more than 50 years and was the oldest member of the church. Martha was instrumental in naming Chumme Class of the church.

She was also a member of Saint Clair Women's Club, a member and past patron of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the former Kalmia Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Saint Clair. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania State Education Association. She was a den mother of the Cub Scouts, Saint Clair.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Bryn Jones, in 1980; two sisters, Muriel Wolfgang and Florence Gray; and a brother, Richard Gray.

Surviving are a son, Richard G. Jones, husband of Janet, Saint Clair; daughter, Carol Ann, wife of John Homovich, Saint Clair; two sisters, Joan Gray and Lois Gray, both of Saint Clair; a niece, Nancy Reese, Schuylkill Haven; three granddaughters, Sandra Mickonis, New Philadelphia, Amy Harig, Schuylkill Haven, and Megan OmahaBoy, Saint Clair; a grandson, Brian Jones, Louisiana; six great-grandchildren, Jenna, Aaron, Kenny Jr., Robert, Ava and Daisy; nieces and nephews.

Religious services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Saint Clair Wade United Methodist Church, Saint Clair, with the Rev. Susan Moore officiating. Friends may call at the church from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Saint Clair. The family would prefer contributions to Saint Clair Wade United Methodist Church. James H. Evans Funeral Home Inc., Saint Clair, is in charge of arrangements.
