Mary Lou Sophy, 75, of Pottsville, passed away Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Pottsville, Dec. 14, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Kathryn M. Strange Cunningham.

She was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Lisa Sophy.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 56 years, Tony Sophy, Pottsville; three daughters, Kathryn G. Sophy and her husband, Neil A. Grover, Harrisburg, Tish Killian and her husband, Bryon, Newtown, and Mary A. Sophy, Pottsville; two sons, Anthony C. Sophy and his wife, Cathy, Pottsville, and T.J. Sophy and his partner, Peter Sutliff, Reading; 13 grandchildren, Neil, Nathaniel and Benjamin Grover, Bryon, Matt and Kevin Killian, Megan (Killian) Randazzo, Vanessa Sophy, Anthony, Eric, and Sonya Sophy, and Justin and Samantha Anchorstar; eight great-grandchildren, Bryon Killian, Kaia Killian, Elijah Killian, Fifetta and Antonio Randazzo, Anthony Sophy, and Brody and Levi Sophy; two brothers, Thomas and Robert Cunningham; a sister, Kitty Julian; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Robert A. Evans Jr. Funeral Home, 208 Pike St., Port Carbon, with the Rev. David Grover and Deacon Andrew Sabados officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
