Robert L. Barnhart, 85, of Llewellyn, passed away Wednesday at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born in Llewellyn, he was a son of the late Robert Barnhart and Dora Kline Barnhart Schultz.

He was a 1949 graduate of Branch Township High School. He was an independent anthracite miner, and later worked as an equipment operator on highway and pipeline construction.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, the former Nancy Loeb, in 2010; a granddaughter, Martina Barnhart; a great-granddaughter, Avery Lynn Kralick; two siblings, Betty DeSantis and Ronald Barnhart.

He is survived by five sons, William, Llewellyn, Frank, Minersville, David, Llewellyn, Robert, Llewellyn, and Michael, Branchdale; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the Barnhart family from 6 p.m. Tuesday at Dutcavich Funeral Home, 200 Sunbury St., Minersville. A memorial service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Peace Cemetery, Branch Township, at the convenience of the family. Visit www.dutcavich.com.
