Vernon Klinger Obituary

Vernon L. Klinger, 82, of Tower City, passed away Thursday afternoon at Heritage Mill Personal Care Home, Tower City.

Born in Wiconisco, May 1, 1930, he was a son of the late Mary Mertz Klinger.

He was a graduate of Tower City High School. He was a Navy veteran.

Vernie was a retired mechanic, having owned his own business, Klinger's Korner, Tower City, for more than 50 years.

Vernon was of the Protestant faith. He enjoyed hunting and the outdoors.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Jean O'Neill Klinger, on Dec. 20, 2012; a son Kenneth L., in 2006; two brothers, George and Earl Klinger; three sisters, Vivian Adams, Luella Umberger and Violet Shuey.

Surviving are three daughters, Carole A. Klinger, Harrisburg, Karen J. Klinger, New Cumberland, and Kay M. Livelsberger, Mount Joy; two sons, Carl L. Klinger and Chris V. Klinger, both of Tower City; nine grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, with the Rev. Edward Gobrecht officiating. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Elizabethville. A viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the chapel. To sign the guest book, visit www.dimonfuneralhome.com.
