Virginia Ejiofor, 88, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away on Monday at Rest Haven Nursing Home, Schuylkill Haven.
Born in Nigeria, Sept. 25, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Dora Okolo and Joseph Okotcha.
She was a high school graduate and completed a nursing program.
Virginia was president of her church organization in Nigeria before she came to the United States in 1991.
Virginia attended St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville.
She was a homemaker and devoted her life to caring for her family.
Virginia enjoyed traveling with her family, and she received an award for outstanding service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas S. Ejiofor; sons, Patrick, Augustine, Romanos and Peter; and brothers, Sylvester and Bernard Okotcha and Umeadi Nwokolo.
Virginia is survived by four daughters, Assumpta Allanah, wife of Anthony, Pottsville, Felicia Uwajeh, wife of Jerry, Houston, Texas, Romania Juwah, wife of Cyril, Nigeria, and Agatha Onwundinjo, wife of Andrew, Reading; two sons, Louis Ejiofor, Colton, Calif., and Paul Ejiofor, husband of Arieta, Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews; grandnieces and -nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc., 1818 Mahantongo St., Pottsville. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Pottsville. Lord-Bixler Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at www.lordbixler.com.
