LeRoy W. Schwalm, 90, of Silver Spring Township, passed away Thursday at home surrounded by his family. Born in Spring Glen, Oct. 31, 1923, he was a son of the late Mae Schwalm Fry. He was raised by his grandparents, William "Bill" and Alma Coleman Schwalm.

LeRoy served in the Army Air Force as a flight officer, serving as a bombardier/navigator on B-17 aircraft. He retired from the Navy Fleet Material Support Office (FMSO) in Mechanicsburg, as a budget analyst supervisor, after more than 40 years of federal service.

He was an active member of St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, Carlisle Springs, where he served for many years on the consistory, taught the adult Sunday school class and served as church school superintendent. He also served as treasurer for the Mercersburg Association of the United Church of Christ for many years.

He was a member of American Legion Post 109, NARFE 1816, Mechanicsburg, Members 1st FCU Senior Citizens Coffee Corner and Mechanicsburg Sportsmen's Association.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandson, Christopher Seiff.

Remaining to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 67 years, Joyce Dunkelberger Schwalm; son, Vaughn LeRoy Schwalm, Pine Grove; daughter, Holly Joyce Schwalm, Mechanicsburg; three granddaughters, Jennifer D. Schwalm, Tricia D. Carbaugh and Sarah J. Baer; four great-grandchildren, Abigayle Hurley, Tyler Buchenauer, Maci Carbaugh and Haylee Baer; loving sister, Eva Beury, Ashland; two half brothers, Marlin and Edward Fry; and two half sisters, Doris Frankenstein and Marlene Jenkins.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew's United Church of Christ, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle. A visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's UCC, 3240 Spring Road, Carlisle, PA 17013 and/or Hospice of Central PA, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
