Daniel J. Markiewicz, 80, of Mahanoy City, passed away peacefully Tuesday at Hometown Nursing and Rehab Center, Tamaqua. He was the husband of Rose Ann Boris Markiewicz.

Born in Mahanoy City, June 5, 1933, he was a son of the late John and Mary Dziado Markiewicz.

He was a member of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Roman Catholic Parish, Mahanoy City.

Daniel served in the Army in the Korean War.

A 1951 graduate of Mahanoy City High School, he worked at A&P Supermarket, Mahanoy City, also worked for and retired from Sony, Delano.

Daniel loved all sports especially playing darts, shuffle board and was a big Philadelphia sports fan.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Edmund, Francis, John and Joseph; and sisters, Helen Anthony and Sister Donald, O.S.F

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Daniel Jr., husband of Christine, Mahanoy City, David, husband of Lynn, Hometown, and Donald, husband of Susan, Tamaqua; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Gabrielle, Victoria, Zachary and Talia.

Religious service will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Friday at Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home & Crematory Inc., Mahanoy City, with the Rev. Kevin P. Gallagher officiating.
