Marlin W. "Gooks" Kimmel, 82, of Donaldson, passed away Sunday at Tremont Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Donaldson, Sept. 10, 1931, he was a son of the late Edward and Mae Morgan Kimmel.
A graduate of the former Frailey Township High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Marlin retired from the maintenance department at the Moen plant, Pine Grove. He had also been a coal miner for many years.
He was of the Protestant faith and lifetime member of Donaldson Fire Company.
Marlin was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His family meant the world to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, William, Edward and Kenneth, and a sister, Betty Morgan.
Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Mary Gleason Kimmel; a daughter, Jane Androshick and her husband, Francis Jr., Donaldson; a son, Edward Kimmel, Donaldson; five grandchildren he was very proud of, Elizabeth Kimmel, Ashley Androshick, Patrick Kimmel, Jenna Androshick and John Shuman; a great-granddaughter, Kaelynn Barry; brother, Ronald Kimmel, Pine Grove; three sisters, Gladys Derr and Nancy Reed, both of Donaldson, and Shirley Wolfgang, Pine Grove; nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday from the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City, with Pastor Annette Shutt officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Donaldson Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Donaldson Fire Company, 1 W. Centre St., Donaldson, PA 17981.
