Kathleen C. Bambrick Bretz, 96, of Penn Hills, formerly of Pottsville, died Saturday.

She was a daughter of the late George and Mary Conville Bambrick.

Kathleen was the former director of the Medical Records Department at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh from 1964-81.

She was an active parishioner of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Verona, as well as a member of the Ladies of Charity. She was a longtime member of the Rosedale Community Club and volunteered at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville.

Kathleen had a love for life and was devoted to her family. She will remain in her family's hearts forever.

Many thanks to the Village at Penwood Nursing Home, Bridges Hospice, Gateway Hospice and the Grainger House in Penn Hills for their excellent care, kindness and compassion to Kathleen during her long illness.

In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, George Miller Bretz; brother, Vincent (surviving wife, Catherine Rosenberger) Bambrick; and sister, Marie (Richard) Brobst.

She is survived by her children, Clare (Tom) Sullivan, Hillsborough, N.J., George (Cheryl) Bretz, Hendersonville, Tenn., Eileen (Ron) Keating, Cromwell, Conn., John Bretz, Verona, Bill (Nancy), Nashville, Tenn., Kathy (Mark) Dunn, Dunlap, Tenn., and Meg (Anthony) Balsamico, Penn Hills; grandchildren, Jennifer Bretz-Sullivan (Brian Stehn), Terry Bretz-Sullivan, Mary Alice Bretz, Nate (Kelly) Keating, Alex Bretz, Andrew Bretz, Jason Dunn, Anthony (Jennifer) Balsamico and Michael Balsamico; nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Findlay C. Wylie Funeral Home Inc., 11311 Frankstown Road, Penn Hills. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Church, Verona. Interment will be private.
