Margaret L. Smith, Willing Street, Tamaqua, passed into eternal rest Monday evening at her residence with her family by her side.
She was the wife of Daniel L. Smith, to whom she was married for 62 years.
A Coaldale native, she was a daughter of the late James and Sarah Hoffman Clements.
She was a member of American Legion Post 173 Tamaqua Auxiliary for 38 years.
Prior to her retirement, she worked for the former Tamaqua Frocks and other garment factories in Tamaqua.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Kate Kleppinger and Sarah Danyo.
In addition to her husband, Margaret is survived by three sons, James L. Smith and wife, Pat Vanno, Wylie, Texas, Daniel W. Smith and wife, Laura Harvey, Lake Hauto, and Edward C. Smith and partner, Alton Eidem, Tamaqua; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, with another expected soon; sister, Connie Hoffman, Andreas; nieces and nephews; and always a family member, former daughter-in-law, Diane R. Bieniek Smith, Tamaqua.
She will also be missed by many young people from Dutch Hill who always called her Mom.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua, with Pastor Daniel Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sky-View Memorial Park, Hometown. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
