Willard W. Heinbach, 88, of Pine Grove, passed away Thursday at Providence Place, Pine Grove.

Born Sept. 24, 1925, in Pine Grove, he was a son of the late Adam and Minnie A. Zimmerman Heinbach.

He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, where he was a former member of the cemetery board and church council for many years.

Willard enlisted in the Navy on Dec. 7, 1943, and his unit of assignment was the 7th Fleet USN Pacific Theater with the Amphibians Forces LSM 53. He received the Pacific Theater Ribbon with one star, American Theater Ribbon, World War II Victory Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one star and the Brunei Bay Borneo Theater Ribbon with one star. He completed his service on April 10, 1946.

He was a life member of Pine Grove American Legion Post 374 and Pine Grove VFW Post 3432.

Willard owned and operated the Heinbach Auto Body for more than 50 years and Brookside Ford for 15 years in Pine Grove.

He was a member of Pine Grove Masonic Lodge No. 409 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Temple Association, Reading consistory, Fraternal Order of Police, Golden Eagle of the NRA, Brookside Gun Club and the Grundsow Lodge.

Willard enjoyed big game hunting and fishing.

His wife of 60 years, Irma M. Brown Heinbach, preceded him in death Aug. 18, 2006.

Surviving are a son, Ronald Heinbach and companion, Ruth Hoke, Pine Grove; daughter, Linda Venszl and companion, Vincent Kulbitsky, Elkin, N.C.; five grandchildren, John Venszl and companion, Brandy Daldo, Jared and wife, Billy Jo Venszl, Ronald Heinbach Jr., Christy Heinbach and Kim Heinbach; five great-grandchildren, Noah, Angel, Cameo, Adam and Zoey.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Pine Grove, with Dr. Richard W. Schoenleber officiating. There will be a viewing from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Masonic services at 10 a.m. and military services prior to the service and the cemetery. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery, Pine Grove. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer contributions be made to St. Peter's Lutheran Church Fuel Fund, 312 S. Tulpehocken St., Pine Grove, PA 17963, in his memory. H.L. Snyder Funeral Home Inc., Pine Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
