Verdan W. "Bud" Reed, 91, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Friedensburg, Jan. 26, 1923, he was a son of the late Edward and Katie Jamison Reed.

He was the husband of Helen Gaydos Reed for 67 years.

Bud was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedensburg, and the last original founding member of Camp Robert, Lycoming County.

He served in the Army as a private in World War II and was formerly employed by the Union as a painter and paper hanger.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Dennis A. Reed, husband of Sally, Auburn; a daughter, Judith A. Witkowski, wife of Robert, Auburn; grandchildren, Dennis Jr., Brent and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Allison and Aiden; a brother, Roy Reed, Friedensburg; step-grandchildren, Ashley, Kyle and April; and a step-great-great-grandchild, Natalie.
