Rose Ely, 97, of 225 Deep Creek Road, Hegins, passed away Saturday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Allentown.

She was born in Hegins Township, May 1, 1917, a daughter of the late Dominic Sabatino and the late Elizabeth DeJacamo Sabatino.

She had worked at Twin Valley Farmer's Exchange Egg Plant and at Huntsinger Farms.

She was a member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Hegins. She was also a life member of Hegins Fire Company.

Rose enjoyed fishing, boating, reading, local dirt track racing and NASCAR.

Her husband, Gilbert J. Ely, passed away in 2011. She was also preceded in death by a son, Paul Ely; an infant daughter, Rose Marie Ely; three brothers, Nicholas Supatina, Santino Sabatino nd Phillip Sabatino; and three sisters, Angelina Garcia, Pasqualine Ciocco and Millie Hentz.

She is survived by a son, Junior G, Ely, Carlisle; a grandson, Michael Ely, Gratz; a granddaughter, Jeanette Ely, Carlisle; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Frey, Carlisle, Saveria Hinks, Lebanon, and Florence Rebuck, Millersburg; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View, with the Rev. Warren Egebo officiating. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 Wed-nesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Friedens Cemetery, Hegins. Memorial contributions can be made to your local chapter of the Girl Scouts of America or Boy Scouts of America. Condolen-ces can be left for the family at
