George H. Cope, 83, of Elm Street, Tamaqua, died Tuesday in Hometown.
Born in Mahanoy City, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mae Shirey Cope.
He was employed by the No. 14 colliery, Tamaqua, and later Dana Corp., Reading.
George served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was of Protestant faith.
He was a member of American Legion C.H. Berry Post 173, Tamaqua, AMVETS Post 1 and Carbon County Beagle Club; and a lifetime member of the Tamaqua Italian Club.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by daughter, Patricia, in 2002. George was the last member of his immediate family.
Surviving are his wife, the former Anne Copper; son, George H. Cope Jr. and his wife, Roxanne, Jim Thorpe; daughters, Leanne Blevins, Oxford, and Karen Vandak, Coaldale; grandchildren, John Blevins, Joshua Jones, Melissa Momcilovich, Robert Jones, George Cope and Amanda Cope; and great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jaydenn and Ariel.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Interment will take place in St. Jerome Cemetery, Lombard Street, Tamaqua. An online guest registry is at www.zrgfuneralhomes.com. Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E.
