Edward Bonawitz, 70, of Trumbull, Conn., passed away June 19 at the Bridgeport Hospital, Bridgeport, Conn.

Born in Tremont, May 31, 1944, he was a son of the late C. Theodore and Mary Florick Bonawitz.

He was a 1962 graduate of Tremont High School and then served in the Navy for four years.

He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Maryland and worked in logistics and operations for companies including the Seagrams Co. and Coca-Cola. Later in life, he worked for the Stratford Board of Education before retiring.

He enjoyed golf, hunting and riding his motorcycle and was actively involved in both the Pop Warner and Bunnell High School football organizations.

Surviving are his beloved wife of 47 years, Sharon Haughney Bonawitz; daughter, Ashley Rydecki and her husband, Kevin, Trumbull; son, Gregory Bonawitz and his wife, Rebecca, Schwenksville; sisters, Patricia Davis and her husband, John, Clarksville, Md., and Emma Bates and her husband, Jim, Ellicott City, Md.; and grandchildren, Collin and Ryan Rydecki and William, James and Abigail Bonawitz.

A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. David Rowe officiating.
