Melanie A. Koch, 49, of Tremont, passed away unexpectedly Thursday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Pottsville, Sept. 15, 1964, she was a daughter of the late Warren V. and Marsha E. Knapp Scheib Jones.

She was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Wayne E. Jones; and a grandson, Austin Umbenhauer.

Melanie is survived by a daughter, Ashley A. Koch; a son, Jonathan F. Koch; a sister, Wendy E. Arbogast; a brother, Warren E. Scheib Jr.; a grandfather, Raymond Knapp; and grandchildren, Autumn Felty, Gavin Umbenhauer and Aurora Koch.

A religious service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, with Pastor Joan Weiderhold officiating. Friends are respectfully invited to attend a visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Tremont. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home during visitation. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with arrangements.
