William E. "Ed" Hanson, 83, of Orwigsburg, passed away July 2 at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., July 21, 1930, he was a son of the late William and Phyllis Mumford Hanson.
He married his wife, the former Marie J. Brousseau, on July 16, 1955.
Ed was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Schuylkill Haven. He was a very dedicated member of the Boy Scouts of America all of his life. He was scoutmaster of Troop No. 121 and also belonged to the Order of the Arrow.
He served in the Navy and was formerly employed by Reneer Films, Auburn, as safety supervisor.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter, Dianne M. Polekoff and husband, Dale, Lansdale; two sons, David E. Hanson and wife, Kathleen, Mount Pleasant, S.C., and William H. Hanson and wife, Linda, Pine Grove; five grandchildren, Aimee J. Polekoff, Samuel A. Polekoff, Valorie J. Hanson, Jennifer Pollard and Ashley Paisley.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. James Episcopal Church, Schuylkill Haven. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will follow in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. At the family's request, memorial donations in Ed's name may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O.
