Ray L. Herring, 82, of Tower City, passed away suddenly Thursday morning at his home.

Born in Pine Grove, Aug. 16, 1931, he was a son of the late Warren and Verna Hummel Herring.
Ray was a graduate of Pine Grove High School. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Ray was a retired truck driver with the National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap, Annville.
He was of the Protestant faith, a member of Swatara Lodge 267, F&AM, Tremont; Pine Grove VFW and the Tower City American Legion. He enjoyed, fishing, traveling and playing cards.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two stepchildren, Lisa Brosius and Randal Miller; and a sister and brother, Phaon and Doris Herring.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Shirley Seiger Herring; stepgrandchildren, Randal Brosius and Christy Artman; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
Services will held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes Inc., Tower City. Burial with military honors will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. A viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the chapel with Masonic services at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to Swatara Lodge F&AM, 13 W.
