Kenneth Lamar Shadle, 87, of Hegins, passed away Tuesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Weishample, Aug. 16, 1926, he was a son of the late Raymond and Verdie Lucas Shadle.

He served in the Army during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

Ken was employed by various coal mines, worked construction for H.B. Alexander Inc. and retired from Penn Reel, where he was employed as a machinist.

He was a member of the former Weishample Church of God. He was also a member of Valley View Fire Company and Valley View American Legion.

He enjoyed camping, hunting, talking on CB radios and his dogs.

He was preceded in death by a son, Rick Kenneth Shadle; and four brothers, Edgar, Leonard, Marvin and Harvey Shadle.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Allene Klinger Shadle; a brother, Earl Shadle; and two sisters, Virginia Shadle Maurer and Doris Shadle Smith.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Buffington-Reed Funeral Home, Valley View. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Church of God Cemetery, Weishample. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to , Frackville Regional Hub, 101 W. Frack St., Frackville, PA 17931.
