In 1962, Doris began working at Mootz Candy Store, Pottsville, where she worked for 35 years until she retired at the age of 83. Doris was the last living charter member of Mechanicsville Ladies Auxiliary, serving as a trustee for many years. She was a Brownie Troop leader in Mechanicsville in the 1960s, and was very active in various community efforts in Mechanicsville where she served on the election board.
Doris was a dedicated Phillies fan (win or lose). She enjoyed gardening, shopping with her daughters and granddaughters, baking and the David Letterman show. She loved spending time with her family, particularly with the great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Schultz Jr., Oct. 9, 1980. The last member of her immediate family, Doris was preceded by four sisters, Catherine Hughes, Marion Keefer, Gladys Shore and Georgine Nagle; and three brothers, John, Kenneth and Harry Schell.
