Maxine Patricia Ergler, 62, of Jefferson, Md., passed away Friday from a lengthy battle with cancer at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Frederick, Md., surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Pottsville, March 17, 1952, she was a daughter of the late Salvador and Irma Rizzardi Leone, who lived in Branchdale.

She grew up in Branchdale, and graduated from Minersville High School in 1970.

She worked at Boscov's department store, Frederick, as a department area manager for the last ten years, retiring in May. Prior to 2004, she also worked as a department manager at Montgomery Ward and Target, both in Frederick.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Community, Middletown, Md., where she dedicated her time as a cantor and a greeter.

She enjoyed strolls on the beach and searching for sea shells in the sand. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She had a zest for life and always had a smile on her face. She had a kind heart and a caring soul. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was truly an angel on earth and is now an angel in heaven.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Salvador Leone Jr. and Michael Leone Sr.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, David F. Ergler; daughters, Michelle Cunningham and husband, Eric, Prairie Village, Kan., Stephanie Cline, Alexandria, Va., Melissa Yon and husband, Jeremy, Plympton, Mass., and Larissa Coyle and husband, Thomas, Martinsburg, W.Va.; sons, Matthew Ergler and wife, Wendy, Mechanicsburg, and Eric Rodnick and wife, Stacy, Eldersburg, Md.; brothers, Leo Leone, Port Carbon, and Leonard Leone, Branchdale; sister, Louise Leone, Allentown; and nine grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Community, 7321 Burkittsville Road, Middletown, Md. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Community, Middletown, with Monsignor Robert Jaskot as the celebrant. Interment will be in Christ Reformed United Church of Christ, 12 S. Church St., Middletown, Md. Keeney Basford Funeral Home, Frederick, Md., is in charge of arrangements.
