Mary Lou Miller, 78, of Gordon, passed away Saturday at her residence.

Born June 24, 1936, in Mowry, she was a daughter of the late Charles "Lee" and Rita McAndrew Reinoehl.

Mary Lou was educated in Helfenstein schools and was a graduate of Ashland High in 1954.

During her formative years, she worked at a cigar factory and played softball in the state of Connecticut. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary for the Commonwealth of the State of Pennsylvania.

On Nov. 5, 1955, she was married to Leo "Ab" Miller, who preceded her in death.

For more than 30 years, she worked as a seamstress and supervisor in various garment shops. After retirement, Mary Lou's love of cooking led her to study at Schuylkill Technology Training Center in the culinary arts program, where she honed her cooking skills even further. Mary Lou was a beloved member of her community. She was compassionate, charismatic and fun loving. Even throughout her prolonged illness, her witty remarks were never in short supply.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie, and a companion, William "Jigs" Wagner.

Mary Lou is survived by daughters, Susan, wife of Thomas Edwards, Gordon, and Sandra, wife of Joseph Saukaitis, Mount Carmel Township; she was a loving and devoted grandmother to her three grandsons, Chad Edwards, Gordon, Steven Saukaitis and his wife, Melissa, Mount Carmel, and Michael Saukaitis, Daytona Beach, Fla.; sisters and brother, Anne Vilewinski, Exeter, Raymond Reinoehl, Mowry, Claire Kramer, Gowen City, and Agnes Smarr, Lavelle; several nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Gordon Miller, Frackville; and countless friends who were blessed to know her.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Simpson United Methodist Church, Gordon, with the Rev. John C. Wallace officiating. Friends and family may call from 9 a.m until the time of the service. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
