Carl G. Nochton, 88, of 701 Market St., Ashland, passed away Wednesday at Schuylkill Medical Center-East Norwegian Street.

Born in Ashland, Jan. 19, 1926, he was a son of the late Alfred C. Nochton and Catherine Ney Williams.

A 1944 graduate of Ashland High School, he graduated from Penn State University and received his master's degree from Bucknell University.

Carl was as an English teacher and later a guidance counselor at Bald Eagle Area High School.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II, working as a pharmacist mate second class.

Carl was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Ashland, where he was active as a Eucharistic minister, a member of the cemetery committee, RCIA program and Faith Sharing.

He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, a member of Ashland Elks Lodge, American Legion, Ashland Historical Society, Penn State Alumni Association and the Retired Teachers Association of Schuylkill and Centre counties.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Charles Berger; a sister-in-law, Patricia A. Williams; and a nephew, Jeffrey Williams.

Surviving are sisters, Kathleen Nochton, Ashland, and Jackie Berger, Bethlehem; brother, Ronald Williams Sr., Ashland; an aunt, Jean Ney; nieces, nephews and cousins.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home. Ashland. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Ashland, with the. Rev. John Bambrick officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Ashland. Kull-Heizenroth Funeral Home, Ashland, is in charge of arrangements. Visit
