Eloise J. Lutz Hunt, 75, of Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home surrounded by her family.

Born in Philipsburg, on Sept. 18, 1941, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Lucille Walker Lutz.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert J. Hunt.

Eloise graduated from Cooper Township High School and then matriculated to Lock Haven Teachers' College earning her bachelor's degree. She taught in the Tyrone School District before teaching eighth-grade English in the Tamaqua Area School District from 1968 until her retirement in 2000.

Eloise was Protestant by faith. She enjoyed reading, gardening and bird watching.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Howe.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Margaret Jacobson, wife of Jeffrey, Olympia, Wash.; brothers, Earl Lutz and his wife, Lorraine, Lemont, Barrett Lutz, Strasburg, Jerome E. Lutz and his wife, Suzanne, State College, and David Lutz and his wife, Mary Ann, Allentown; 13 nieces and nephews; 20 great-nieces and -nephews.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to E. Franklin Griffiths Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 655 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Private interment will be at Messiah Baptist Church Cemetery, Kylertown. Memorials in her honor may be sent to the Tamaqua Public Library, 30 S. Railroad St., Tamaqua, PA 18252, or to a .
