Walter K. Cullen, 78, of Pottsville, passed away Monday at his residence. Born in Pottsville, July 23, 1929, he was a son of the late Herbert and Myrtle Mason Cullen. He was a graduate of Port Carbon High School. He retired from PPL in 1992 after 43 years of service. He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, Pottsville, and a member of the PPL Retirees Club. He enjoyed golfing and spending time with family and friends. He was a Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Laverne Cullen; and a brother, Donald Cullen. Surviving are his wife, Mary A. McGeoy ﻿Cullen, Pottsville, to whom he would have been married 56 years on July 19; a son, John "Jack" Cullen, husband of Jill, Minersville; two daughters, Marikay Cady, fiancée of Mark Itter, Ovieda, Fla., and Nancy Fidler, wife of Guy, Orwigsburg; five grandchildren, Emily Fidler, Ryan Cady, Alison, Mackenzie and Jason Cullen; a niece and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday from St. Patrick Church. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Friday until time of Mass at the church. Interment will be in Schuylkill Memorial Park, Schuylkill Haven.
