Arthur W. Dissinger, 60, of Schuylkill Haven, died at home Sunday.

Born in Pottsville, Nov. 22, 1949, he was the son of the late Lt. Col. Arthur W. and June Dissinger.

He was the husband of Christine A. Hontz Dissinger, to whom he was married 12 years.

He was of the Catholic faith.

He retired as chief of police from New Castle Township and Delano Township and as a policeman for Girardville and Port Carbon boroughs.

Art was a life member of Rainbow Hose Company, Schuylkill Haven.

He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was severely wounded and medically discharged from the service after a long recovery.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Jacquelynn Dissinger of Pottsville, Kristyn K. Dissinger and Angel N. Dissinger, both of Schuylkill Haven; four sons, Michael A. Dissinger, Daniel G. Dissinger, Ryan T. Dissinger and Gavin A. Dissinger, all of Schuylkill Haven; a sister, Mary Townsley, Yellow House; two brothers, Lewis Brown, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Thomas Dissinger, Lancaster; grandchildren, Tyler M. Dissinger, Ashley N. Dissinger, Lauren J. Dissinger, Selena Dissinger and Hunter K. Dissinger.

A visitation with the family will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., 25 E. Main St., Schuylkill Haven. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Shawn Van Dyke officiating. Interment with military honors will follow the service in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. The family requests memorial donations be made to The Dissinger Children, 79 N.
