Dorothy M. Heckman, 88, formerly of Middletown, entered into rest on Saturday at the Colonial Care Center, Harrisburg.

Born in Pottsville, July 25, 1922, she was a daughter of the late George and Margaret Harris Smith.

Dorothy was a retired employee of the New Cumberland Army Depot.

She was an Episcopalian and was a former member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in the Valley, Lingelstown. She served as past president and secretary of the American Business Women's Association of Colonial Park.

Dorothy was the widow of Jerome W. Heckman, who departed this life on May 13, 1985.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonniedee, wife of Thomas Bohenick, Harrisburg; a son, William G., husband of Charlotte Heckman, Bainbridge; two brothers, Layton Smith, Pottsville, and Robert Smith, Tuscarora; five grandchildren, David A. Heckman, Middletown, Scott C. Heckman, Northumberland, Lesley A., wife of David Viola, Middletown, Dr. Carrie A. Bohenick, wife of Michael Dudick, Broadview Heights, Ohio, Lisa M., wife of Andrew Wilkinson, Harrisburg; seven great-grandchildren.

A tribute to her life will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 260 E. Main St., Middletown, with the Rev. Dr. J. Richard Eckert officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville. Viewing will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
