Dorothy Ryan, 82, passed away Friday at Seton Manor, Orwigsburg.

Born in Trenton, Mahanoy City, April 24, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Teckla Hryskanich Lazer.

Dorothy lived much of her life in Girardville and lived also in Frackville for many years.

She graduated in 1946 from Delano High School and was also a graduate of Pottsville Hospital School of Nursing.

She had worked for Ashland State General Hospital as a licensed practical nurse.

She was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, St. Claire Order of Secular Franciscans, and Catholic Daughters St. James Court, Frackville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Ryan, in 1958; sons, Lawrence and James; brothers, Steve, John, Joseph, Frank, Nicholas and Michael; sisters, Julia Lazer and Mary Barna.

Surviving are a daughter, Bonnie Koeplin, Atlanta, Ga.; sisters, Anna Yurko, Freeland, and Helen Belovesick, Mahanoy City; three grandchildren, Michelle and Jason Ryan and Gabriela Koeplin; a great-granddaughter, Violet Ryan; nieces and nephews.

Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, Mahanoy City, with the Rev. James Carroll officiating. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Fountain Springs, where a white dove will be released in her memory. Louis D. Truskowsky Funeral Home Inc., Mahanoy City, is in charge of arrangements. Visit to sign the guest book or send sympathy cards.
