Joseph David Tretter, 63, of Palmyra, passed away Sunday with family by his side at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, Hershey.
Born in Pottsville, he was a son of Yvonne Dunleavy Lanzino and the late Joseph Leonard Tretter.
He has been happily married to Kaye L. Grandi Tretter, with whom he celebrated 30 years of marriage on May 12.
Shortly after high school, he went to serve his country in the Army, and is a veteran of the Vietnam era.
After returning home, he went to work for H.B. Reese Co., where he retired as an HVAC mechanic in 2010. He also enjoyed racing sprint cars at most of the local tracks for a few years.
In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by a two sons, Mark Tretter and his wife, Michele, Hummels-town, and Michael Tretter and his wife, Erin, Philadelphia; a daughter, Jenelle Tretter, DVM, Palmyra; a stepson, Eric Kline and his wife, Kallie, Harrisburg; a sister, Jean Hubley, Lebanon; a sister-in-law, Faye Whary, Cleona; his mother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Smith, Rexmont; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Miranda.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Friday at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 245 W. Pine St., Palmyra, with the Rev. James F. Podlesny, OSB, as the celebrant. Family and friends are invited for visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rothermel Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 25 W. Pine St., Palmyra, PA 17078. Interment will be private and at convenience of the family.
