Louise Shellhamer Obituary

Louise A. Shellhamer, 92, of Pitt Street, Tamaqua, died Wednesday at home.

She was the wife of Russell Shellhamer, who died in 1972.

Born in Tamaqua, Sept. 10, 1918, she was a daughter of the late John L. and Anna Gribbin Allison. A 1937 graduate of Tamaqua High School, she also was a graduate of McCann's School of Business. Louise retired in 1985 from the Schuylkill County Emergency Management Office, where she had been employed as a secretary. Prior to that she was employed by Sears & Roebuck Company Catalog Store, Tamaqua.

Louise was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Tamaqua.

In addition to her husband, Russell, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Kellet, in 1997; eight brothers and two sisters; and a granddaughter, Amy Mooney.

Surviving are a daughter, Louise M. Shellhamer, Tamaqua; a son, Russell H. "Doey" Shellhamer, Summit Hill; grandchildren, James Shellhamer, Nadine Shellhamer and Julie Shellhamer, all of Tamaqua; nine great-grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister, Helen Schuetrumpf, Tamaqua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, with the Rev. William Linkchorst officiating. Interment will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Zizelmann-Roche Funeral Home, 500 E. Broad St., Tamaqua. Memorial contributions in Louise's name may be made to Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 307 Pine St., Tamaqua, PA 18252. Online guest registry at www.zrgfuneralhomes.com
