Anna Louise Spirko, 94, formerly of Llewellyn, passed away peacefully Friday at Sterling House in New Bern, N.C.
Born in Llewellyn, Aug. 3, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Matthew and Mary Oleyar Hudock.
Before moving to New Bern, she was an active member of Four Square Gospel Church, leading the activities of the sponsored soup kitchen for many years up to age 85. Additionally, she was an active member of many community activities and charities. Most of all, she was a devoted and loving wife, mother and beloved grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alex Spirko, with whom she built their own home she lived in for more than 55 years; and her siblings, Mary Poppich, Margaret Sorge, Joseph Hudock, Helen Wanchalk, Michael Hudock, John Hudock, Ambrose Hudock and Regina Perambo.
She is survived by sons, Matthew Spirko and his wife, Susan, New Bern, N.C., and Gene Spirko and his wife, Mallary, North Andover, Mass.; daughters, Rosanne Rogers and her husband, Mark, Phoenixville, and Marianne Bailey and her husband, Stewart, Rochester, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Ann Hudock, wife of her brother, John; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; nephews and nieces.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, immediately followed by services conducted by Pastor David Poissant of Four Square Gospel Church, Pottsville. Please feel free to dress casually and bring your memories of Anna to share. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. Anna requests, in lieu of flowers, to have donations sent to Community Home Care and Hospice, 1423A S. Glenburnie Road, New Bern, N.C. 28562 or Four Square Gospel Church, 2300 Mahantongo St., Pottsville, PA 17901. Mahal-Ritzel Funeral Home Inc., Minersville, is entrusted with the arrangements.
