Glenn E. Bowen, 81, of Schuylkill Haven, passed away peacefully Tuesday at home with his family by his side.

Born in North Manheim Township, Dec. 23, 1930, he was a son of the late Wilson and Rita Bowen Stump.

He was the husband of Patricia L. Shaw Bowen, whom he married on June 6, 1953, in Dover, N.H.

He was a 1948 graduate of Schuylkill Haven High School, before serving in the Navy as an electrician from 1948-1952.

Glenn started working for Bell Telephone in 1954 as a lineman and retired as a PBX repairman in 1992.

He was a member of St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven.

In addition to his wife, Glenn is survived by daughters, Cheryl, wife of Harry Rubright, Orwigsburg, Karen, wife of William Lurwick, Schuylkill Haven, Debra, wife of Brian Sterner, Auburn, and Kristine, wife of Michael Kopinetz, Auburn; a son, Glenn Bowen II and his wife, Carol, Schuylkill Haven; 13 grandchildren, Becky Rubright and Sarah Rubright McCahon, Jake, Mike and Ellen Lurwick, Matthew Sterner, Marcie Sterner Potts, Greg Sterner, Allisa Bowen Waschko, Glenn Bowen III, Josh Bowen, Kassy and Claire Kopinetz; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Edward Stump, Schuylkill Haven, and Robert Stump, Orwigsburg; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Samuel Bowen; and a sister, Janet Dehner.

Glenn enjoyed spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by those that loved him.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Ambrose Roman Catholic Church, Schuylkill Haven, with the Rev. Robert Riley officiating. A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of Mass at the church. At the family's request, memorial donations may be sent to Hospice of Central Pennsylvania, 1320 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or St. Ambrose Church Building Fund, 201 Randel St., Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. Interment will be held in Schuylkill Memorial Park Schuylkill Haven.
